Randolph county Arkansas - Family surname Grote; Familienname Grote
According to the Grote family history, our Grote family resided at Elm Store, Randolph county. You will find that town in the somewhat upper left corner of the map. It is North of Pochahontas near the Mo. border.
I hope we can find the many village locations on the county map. I thought would be nice to see just where they lived.
Note: The Calhoun county Historical book compiled by the Historical Society of Rockwell city gives information that the family Grote lived at Wirth in Arkansas.

I find it interesting to think that another family member resided at Pochahontas, Pochantas county Iowa. [Jaeschke and Nowack family members] I wonder what the reason was for that name for the county. I should find out.

Familien namen Gerstenkorn, Koopman[n], Nieman
A posting with Ohlrogge familien geschichte namen from the mailing list. Pay attention because they are very important. Especially names NIEMANN AND KOOPMAN and of course GERSTENKORN. I sit up and pay attention whenever I see the locations of Sammasch or Sammatz, Sammatsch, and Wietzetze. I am sure they tie to our Rosseborg family of Oldendorf hof 30 and Sueschendorf hof 2, but can't say so unless I check and take it further. So many of these posts were gathered before I figured out the connection of Heinrich Genzels tree. SO YOU CAN SEE THE NECESSITY TO COMPARE THIS.

Census & Voter Lists
Name: August Grote
Age: 46
Race: White
Birthplace: Germany
RESIDENCE: Dawson, Greene
This is August Grote provided to me by Mark Kuhlman.
the source is the
1982 Calhoun county Iowa book. Taylor Publishing company.
By Historical Society of Rockwell city Historians.
There was a Henry Schroeder at Calhoun. However, I do not think it is the same one.
That Henry Schroeder was born Oct. 1855. His wife Kate was born Oct. 1865.
Mary Schroeder wife of Fred Schroeder was born Jan 1848. I have been told anyway that Fred Schroeder immigrated around July fourth 1883 and went to see his friend Fred Meyer at Churdan swamps and stayed the winter with him. [ Imagine how glad Fred would be to see an old friend.]
Census Henry Schroeder was age 50. The wife mentioned was age 40. There were several children. Even a little Henry.
These surnames were entwined in America.
Note: For update explanation on the PUTFAHRT or PUFAHRT,PUFFAHRT see the link.
Note: For More about Schroeder immigration see those from Mucklingen and Dahlenburg with Warnecke and Seil. May 1883.
